Have you ever wondered what's in a washing machine? Ok, maybe not. Anyway I'm gonna tell you. Your clothes are exactly what's in a washing machine. Yes, the same ones that you spend hundreds of dollars on. Yes, the same ones that you try to take such good care of. Well, there's more than just your clothes in there. There's your money. I told you that you spend hundreds of dollars on those clothes. How about laundry soap? Yeppers, that's in there too. Funny how we spend so much on laundry soap and then we put it in the washing machine and the washing machine just pours it down the drain. Ha, I bet you never thought about that! Well my laundry soap cost me 1 cent per load. Yes, I make it myself.
So anyway....
The Tuesday before Mothers Day, my washing machine decided to quit. No two week notice, no retirement pension plan, just quit. Now that I think about it, maybe for the past 4 years it was on it's retirement pension plan. It sure was needing parts about every 4 or 6 months. So now I am the proud owner of a brand spanking new washing machine and dryer. Yes! The whole set! The dryer timer quit about 2 years ago and we have been nursing it along all that time. Besides that, it was geriatric any way. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I'm kinda geriatric and I'm ok (I think). So we made that decision to just kick them both out of the house and buy new ones.
Part of the washing machine now lives in the chicken pen. It is the 2 sides and front piece that we put in the chicken pen. It's pretty cool and the chickens love it. So...maybe it's not what's in a washing machine...maybe it's what's on a washing machine.

Living in the Real World
We all know that once the weekend is gone that Monday comes along. It's a fact. Not one that much of us like but it happens. And once again I find myself asking - where did the weekend go? I wonder where the weekends go because we stay busy. We always seem to run from here to there and back again. I'm not so much the runner in the family, it's more Superman than me. The boys are all fine with staying home or being on the go. I really think they prefer to stay home than running from here to there. However, there are times when they will ask if we are going anywhere. I try to post our schedule (appointments) on the calendar and I do a pretty good job of it. I just don't post things like buying groceries or horse feed or things like that.
Yes, it's Monday. I used to really dread Mondays. That's when I worked in the real world. Now that I am a SAHM (stay at home mom) and a WAHM (work at home mom), I don't dread Mondays anymore. Funny how I said the real world. What exactly is the real world?
For me the real world consist of rolling out of bed at a decent hour, doing the brush teeth and make bed thing. Next I'm trying to get things a little organized for our daily school lessons, while I am waking the boys up and reminding them to get their chores completed. They're pretty good with their chores, so that's the easy part. Doing this and that for all the critters, such as feeding, cleaning the litter boxes, opening gates for horses and so on... Next, I'm giving a bottle to our baby squirrel while making sure that the boys clean the table and do their dishes after they eat breakfast. Then we're off to school where we talk about Columbus sailing the ocean blue, counting from 1 to 200 and figuring out what number comes before and after. We work on growing plants, examining plant cells, work on cursive writing, figure out the plot, setting and characters of a story. We work on spelling words and telling time. We do addition, subtraction and we multiply and we divide. We do fractions and we count beans. We draw and we color. I think it would have been easier to just say there isn't anything that we don't work on.
Some days we all walk to the mailbox together. Some days we run errands and read road signs. Everyday we laugh! No matter how bad the day is - we still find something to laugh at.
We eat lunch and we clean up our mess. We add some more and count some more beans. We count coins and we try to talk in Spanish. We run, we jump and we sword fight. Some days I'm toting a cat like a baby trying to get them out of the bathroom while answering 900 questions. Some days I'm feeding the baby squirrel while trying to wash my hands. One just never knows around here. LOL
Schools out and we all run our separate ways. Me to the barn and then to the kitchen. The boys? Oh they scatter in all different directions.
We all sit down to supper and we laugh and giggle and we talk about our day. We all do the cleaning up from supper and then we all scatter again. The boys scatter off to get their showers and do any homework that they have. Then they find us and hopefully we all can sit down to a movie or to another family conversation or even for some quiet time to read a book.
Bedtime. For everyone except me. Of course I am the one that has the most problem going to sleep. I take the time that everyone is asleep as my quiet time, my time to relax and finally read my emails, clean off my desk, do a little dusting, maybe even some laundry. Now I'm thinking, just how many hours are in the day anyway. LOL
In the morning we start all over again. That brings me to another question. Isn't it time for me to get some sleep? Yeah - I think so!
Goodnight all!

Somewhere Along The Way
Ok - so Somewhere along the way I think I got lost. I have been trying to get caught up from the weekend. Laundry has become a mountain. What the heck happened? Unpack this, unpack that. Oh yeah, I am ate up with chigger bites and I am washing every thing that I have had contact with. That's where the mountain of laundry came from. At least all the darn chiggers will drown.
Have you ever had a chigger bite? It is the most painful, itchy, burning feeling I have ever experienced. I have read several post on different forums that said something like this..."Does anyone know what I can use on chigger bites that will stop the itching before I loose my mind". That's exactly how I feel. The itching is just horrible, I mean to the point that it will wake you up at night. I think I have tried everything for the itching - I've tried calla everything - I've tried finger nail polish, deodorant, bleach, vinegar, bacon grease, Vaseline, lamp oil and on and on. Finally I tried Desitin (yes the diaper rash stuff). It works! I finally got a full nights sleep without waking up itching so bad that I wanted to scream. I am now a believer in Desitin. I have also used it on my horses for something called Mud Fever. It's a rashy thing they get on their feet, just above the hoofs. The Mud Fever mostly affects white feet. Kinda odd I know but that's the way it is.
We are now in our 4th week of home school and some days are rough. We do have more good days than bad days and that's always a good thing.
JD of course gives me the most problems. I am trying really, really hard to help him overcome some of issues and I think if we just keep on the path that we are on, it may just all come together.
WW is just wanting to go on by himself. I am ready to let him just take on off but I have some concerns about that. Maybe I just need to wean him a little at a time.
MJ is zipping through his lessons. I think he is just so darn cute with his little professor self. I really think that he is going to do really, really well.
On our trip to Missouri everyone either had a summer cold or caught a summer cold, except me. LOL I just had to wait until we got home to start feeling cruddy. Today I feel the worst. I don't have much patience today either. Probably because I feel so darn bad.
Ok, I am outta here to grade a couple of test. Wish me luck! LOL
